We speak with Sam Jones, Operations Manager about her decade of being part of the OFF & ON team.

Name: Sam Jones

Role: Operations Manager

Tenure: 10 years

1. Can you briefly introduce yourself and your role at OFF & ON? How long have you been with the company?

I’m Sam, Operations Manager and I’ve been with OFF & ON for 10 years.

2. What initially attracted you to work for OFF & ON, and what has kept you here for over 10 years?

When I found out about OFF & ON, I was initially attracted to its unique style. I loved the idea of specialising in certain treatments like waxing as this has always been one of my favourite treatments! Starting out as a Waxer then into a Branch Manager, a Laser Trainer and now Operations Manager, I am always learning even after 20 years in the industry!.

3. How has OFF & ON evolved and grown since you joined the company?

Initially it was just waxing and brows with 3 Auckland stores. We now have 6 locations nationwide and have introduced a wide range of services including laser, dermal needling and semi-permanent makeup.

4. What do you think sets OFF & ON apart from other companies in the industry, and how has that contributed to its success?

The team at OFF & ON are all specialists in what they do. They get to perform treatments they love which keeps clients coming back as they can see the passion and skill the team has.

5. Can you share a memorable or interesting experience that you've been a part of during your time at OFF & ON?

At our 10 year anniversary, we drove a horse truck up from the South Island. We opened the back of the truck and made it into a brow bar. Guess where we were doing these brow treatments… in the carpark of Sylvia Park!

6. As a long time employee, what advice would you give to new hires or those considering a long-term career at OFF & ON?

Have fun and enjoy what you do! Take pride in your work and treat others how you like to be treated 😊

7. What do you believe has been the key factor in OFF & ON's sustained success over the past 15 years?

The team of specialists within our stores giving client a great customer experience.

8. What do you personally find most rewarding about working at OFF & ON?

Coming from Ireland, I have met many of my friends through OFF & ON. Some of whom are now lifelong friends and I’m thankful to OFF & ON for that.

9. Can you share any plans or initiatives that OFF & ON has in store for its 15-year celebration or for the future?

We have big plans to celebrate our 15 year birthday both in store and out. We are bringing together all teams from Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Auckland to celebrate and we can’t wait to have everyone in one place!

10. Lastly, what are you most looking forward to in OFF & ON's future?

Continuous growth and moving with the industry.

11. A day in the life of Sam?

Each day varies but most days start with hearing from branch managers letting me know if and what support they may need that day. I’ll then be getting my kids ready for school and daycare 😊 After drop offs, you’ll either find me in support office, home office or in store. With a team of 45 there is always something happening and no two days are the same!
